Definition of Hypothesis A hypothesis is a possible answer to a research question. It is a presumption or a hunch on the basis of which a study has to be conducted. This hypothesis is tested for possible rejection or approval. If the hypothesis get accepted it shows that your hunch was right if it get rejected it still does not mean that your research was not valid, but it means that it is the opposite way you thought and perceived. Whether it is approved or not it gives you some conclusion and adds to the available body of knowledge. A hypothesis which has been tested again and again by various researchers can still be tested for making it more valid but if the hypothesis has been approved in such a manner that it has become a law that it is better to test something that adds to the available knowledge rather than approving something which has been approved many times before. Futures contracts are similar to forward contracts where two parties agree to buy or sell an underlying asset at a predetermined price on a pre-specified date. The key difference between the two is that unlike a forward contract, which is traded over-the-counter, a futures contract is traded on an organized exchange. Just like a forward contract, a futures contract can also be deliverable or cash settled. Because a futures contract is traded on an exchange, it gives rise to a few more differences between futures and forwards. The following is a list of key differences: Futures contracts are traded on an exchange while forward contracts are privately traded. Since they are traded on exchange, futures contracts are highly standardized. Forward contracts, on the other hand, are customized as per the requirements of the counterparties. A single clearinghouse acts as the counterparty for all futures contracts. This means that the clearinghouse is the buyer for every seller a...

A currency forward contract is an agreement between two parties to exchange a certain amount of a currency for another currency at a fixed exchange rate on a fixed future date. By using a currency forward contract, the parties are able to effectively lock-in the exchange rate for a future transaction. The currency forward contracts are usually used by exporters and importers to hedge their foreign currency payments from exchange rate fluctuations. The currency forward contracts can be both deliverable or cash settled. In case of cash settled currency forwards the payment is made by the party who is at loss to the party who is at gain. Let’s take an example to understand how a currency forward contract works. Assume a US exporter who is expecting to receive a payment of EUR 10million after 3 months. Since he will need to convert these euros into US dollar, there is exchange rate risk involved. The exporter enters into a cash-settled currency forward contract to exchange ...
